Past & Present - Sheffield & Manor Lodge

Have you ever wondered what it was like in Sheffield during Tudor times?
The Manor Lodge stands on one of the best vantage points in the area, with clear views across the city to the Derbyshire moors, up the Don valley and down to Rotherham and beyond.
Through the use of maps and drawings we investigate the differences between Sheffield now and then and see how it has changed over the years.

Children will gain an insight into how everyday life has changed since the Tudor period by comparing landscapes, population and working life. Pupils will take a look at how the Tudor population earned a living and what life was like working as a ‘spit boy’ or a ‘groom of the stool’ in the Tudor Manor House.

Pupils will gain a unique understanding of how Sheffield has changed over the years and how living and
working conditions have changed and improved.
