Green Estate Story
Green Estate Ltd was formed from a 5 year Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) programme that started life in 1998. Environment and Heritage then formed one of the 7 strategic themes in the Manor Castle and Woodthorpe SRB regeneration programme, a partnership between the Manor and Castle Development Trust (MCDT), Sheffield Wildlife Trust (SWT), and many other partners.
Subsequently the Environmental and Heritage programme became known as the Green Estate and it developed and delivered a strategy of interrelated initiatives that protected and enhanced the natural and built environment, reached out to disadvantaged communities and created sustainable change across the wards of Manor Castle Woodthope
In April 2004 at the end of SRB funding, the programme made a successful transition into a viable social enterprise and Green Estate Ltd was formed having built up an excellent national and local reputation for project management, urban open space regeneration and successful sales and services based on a Fair Trade approach.
Green Estates mission is:
To bring about an inspiring and valued urban ‘estate’, a place where all open space is transformed from a liability into a productive asset, which is managed in a way that protects and enhances the local heritage, demonstrates environmental excellence and delivers social justice, both now, and for future generations.
