Volunteer Opportunities with Green Estate
Are you looking for a chance to do some volunteering work that’s exciting and a bit different? Would you also like to make a positive contribution to Manor and Castle’s parks and green spaces?

Why would I want to volunteer?
You may want to learn something new or get some work experience to help you get a job, or you may have valuable knowledge to share with us. Or you may simply have a bit of free time on your hands. Volunteering can be fun, give you the chance to meet new people and make new friends. By volunteering with Green Estate you can be a part of exciting new plans for Sheffield Manor Lodge. Whatever your reason we have a number of volunteering opportunities that we hope you would like to get involved in. You do not need to have had any experience to volunteer, your age is not important and you can contribute as much or as little of your time as suits you.

What sort of volunteering projects can I do?
The following are just an example of the sort of projects you could be involved in. It is not a complete list so please come and talk to us about what would interest you.
Garden development project – we are wanting to develop ‘historical’ gardens in keeping with Sheffield Manor Lodge’s past. Tasks will include helping with the design of the gardens, their construction, planting and maintenance.
Events and activities assistant – we already run a number of events and activities at Sheffield Manor Lodge and intend to expand this programme. Tasks include giving guided tours, costumed story telling, running children’s craft and games activities and working with schools groups.
Practical Estate Work – we need support to do a variety of tasks including tree planting, fencing and maintaining parks and green spaces for everyone to enjoy.
Visitor centre reception – we are building a new visitor and education centre at Sheffield Manor Lodge (to be constructed by summer 2009). We will need volunteers to meet and greet visitors and school groups, provide information, help visitors get the most out of their visit and provide administrative support including answering phones and managing a booking system.

What we will offer you
In return for your time and valuable contribution we will provide you with a warm welcome, specialist training, travel expenses to our base and a supportive and creative working environment.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.
